The Ankara Crocus ( Crocus ancyrensis ), even small Asian crocus called, is a plant from the genus of crocus ( Crocus ).
features
The Ankara crocus is a perennial tuber geophyte that reaches heights of 4 to 10 centimeters. The tuber shell is coarsely fibrous. The perigone tips are solid yellow-orange and blunt to rounded. They measure 13 to 30 × 7 to 13 millimeters. The stamens are bearded yellow at the base.
The flowering time is in February, it rarely lasts until April.
Occurrence
The Ankara crocus is found in northern and central Turkey. The species grows on rocky mountain steppes, in oak bushes as well as in open pine and abies forests at altitudes of 1000 to 1600 meters.

The Ankara crocus is widely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and borders. The species has been in culture since 1879 at the latest. The 'Golden Bunch' variety is multi-flowered.
