Ann-Beth Solvang

Ann-Beth Solvang (* before 1996 in Stavanger ) is a Norwegian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Ann-Beth Solvang attended the music branch of the secondary school Lundehaugen videregående skole in Sandnes , a town south of Stavanger , until 1996 . From 1996 to 2000 she studied at the Rogaland Music Conservatory in Stavanger, and then switched to the Norwegian State Opera School in Oslo , which she graduated from in 2004. In the same year she reached the semifinals of the Hans Gabor Belvedere singing competition in Vienna. She made her debut as Mercédès in Carmen at the Oslo Opera House . In 2005 she was a semi-finalist in the International Queen Sonja Music Competition , where she came second in the national ranking (“Dronning Sonjas Nasjonale Musikkonkurranse”). Solvang attended master classes a. a. with Grace Bumbry , Elisabeth Söderström and Elizabeth Connell .

From 2006 to 2008 Ann-Beth Solvang was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera on a grant from the Körber Foundation , in which young singers trained in cooperation with the Hamburg University of Music are trained as part of the ongoing repertoire operation. In the 2008/09 season she was accepted into the State Opera ensemble, which she left again at the end of the 2010/2011 season.

Her repertoire includes a. the Flosshilde from the Ring , the Suzuki from Madama Butterfly , the Diana from Iphigénie en Tauride , the Mary from the Flying Dutchman and the trousers roles of Cherubino from Figaro's wedding and Hansel from Hansel and Gretel .
