The Anna chapel stands at the exit of the Freiburg district of Ebnet in the direction of Stegen on the L133 and belongs to the community of St. Hilarius.

history

The old Anna chapel dates from 1570, is attributed to Anna von Snewlin and is said to have been built out of remorse for the murder of a relative. Since its demolition in 1811, the Anna Cross has stood on the site , and there are other stories around it. Around 1860 four linden trees were planted near the cross.

On July 25, 2010 the newly built Anna Chapel was consecrated. It was built on the initiative of Pastor Franz Enz from Ebnet and by a support association. The Anna chapel is taken care of by the children's learning house , a free school in Ebnet; The maintenance costs are paid by the Ebnet castle owner Nikolaus von Gayling-Westphal, who is also the deputy chairman of the association.

Architecture and equipment

The appearance of the old chapel is not known. The new chapel was built using a modern, open-plan method. It consists of three wooden sails pointing upwards, based on an idea by the architect Siegfried Stier . The chapel has no door, inside there is room for about 20 people.

The central design element of the interior is a wooden sculpture by Thomas Rees . In an original way, she combines the depiction of a Christ detaching himself from the cross , whose head wears a wreath of sun instead of a crown of thorns , with the traditional motif of the Anna-selbdritt group, who seem to emerge from the heart of the risen Christ and crush the head of the serpent of the fall .
