World Cycling Center Africa

The World Cycling Center Africa (WCCA), formerly the African Continental Cycling Center (ACCC), in Potchefstroom near Johannesburg is an institution for training and sports promotion of the World Cycling Association Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

The WCCA was founded in 2005 with the aim of further developing cycling in the countries of Africa . The center is at an altitude of 1400 meters. The WCCA also serves as the representation of the UCI in Africa; its director since 2005 has been the former world-class track cyclist Jean-Pierre van Zyl .

In 2015, the WCCA organized a training camp especially for female drivers for the first time. In that year 214 cyclists and 19 coaches were trained in the WCCA. Particularly talented athletes are sent to the UCI's " World Cycling Center " in Aigle , Switzerland .

Well-known African drivers who have trained in the WCCA include: a. the multiple Africa champion (most recently in 2011 in the time trial ) Daniel Teklehaimanot from Eritrea , the multiple Moroccan champion Adil Jelloul and the two-time African champion Natnael Berhane from Eritrea.
