Jean-Pierre van Zyl

Jean-Pierre van Zyl (born August 15, 1975 in Potchefstroom ) is a former South African track cyclist and today's cycling official.

In 1996 Jean-Pierre van Zyl finished fifth in the 1000-meter time trial at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . The following year he was runner-up in Keirin World Champion in Perth . In 2003 he finished third in the scratch at the World Track Championships in Stuttgart . He also started in several six-day races : in 2003 he finished second in Grenoble , together with Robert Sassone , and third in Stuttgart in 2004, with Marty Nothstein and Matthew Gilmore . In 2004 he won the Tre Giorni Citta di Pordenone with Fabio Masotti and Marco Villa .

Today Jean-Pierre van Zyl represents Africa as a delegate for the World Cycling Federation Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and heads the “ World Cycling Center Africa ” (WCCA) in South Africa, which is located in his hometown Potchefstroom near Johannesburg .
