The Freiburg synagogue was built between 1985 and 1987 according to plans by the architects Hermann Backhaus and Harro Wolf Brosinski in the immediate vicinity of the Freiburg Minster on a piece of land given free of charge by the city. The location in the center of the historic old town was chosen deliberately. The postmodern sacred building has a hexagonal floor plan and is covered with a tent roof. Two oak door leaves with valuable carvings from the old synagogue from 1870 were built into the new church and form the entrance to the prayer hall.

The church was built in 1712 on the site of the old church, while the tower and the southern longitudinal wall of the much smaller predecessor church and parts of other predecessor churches were included in the new building. In the mostly baroque church building, remains of walls from the period between 1050 and 1100 were found on the organ loft, as well as a Gothic window from around 1300. In the century of the new building, a high altar by Johann Pfunner (1767) and a side altar (Sebastian altar) by Benedikt Gambs (1740) and a new tower (1767) by Johann Baptist Häring , which would later become the landmark of Hochdorf.

The listed Kreuzkirche was built by the architect Gutknecht in 1964. The church was not planned on its own, but the entire community center consisting of the church building, bell tower, rectory, community center and kindergarten was realized as an ensemble. The church building is characterized by the continuous ceiling-high stained glass wall. The predominant color of the freely formed glass stones is red in different tones, due to the orientation to the south the church interior is clearly illuminated all day.

Originally planned 500 m further east, the building site was relocated due to an objection by the Aviation Office on December 7, 1936. The reason for the objection was that the tower would have been exactly in the approach path of Freiburg Airport . Due to the changed location, the Betzenhausen residents were able to detach themselves from St. Cyriak in Lehen and form the new Holy Family parish with the residents of the Mooswaldsiedlung.

The construction planning was done by Paul Hugo Geis and Reinhard Fuchs.

A striking feature of the church is the crucified, who holds his arms above mother Mary and the disciple Johannes, the work of art in "German mosaic" comes from Gertrud Leonhard-Püttman

It was built on the site of the former Margaret Chapel, in the classicism style (in Baden Weinbrenner style). The two side altars, the Three Kings Altar and the Sebastian Altar were originally created for the Freiburg Minster and sold to the church in 1711. In 1885 the ensemble was supplemented by the high altar by Franz Josef Simmler from Offenburg. In 1983/84 the high altar was replaced by the baroque high altar from Donaueschingen- Pfohren and later used for St. Nikolaus in Opfingen.

The "Peter and Paul" chapel, which has been owned by the city since 1985, has been largely restored to its original state and serves as a meeting room. The Fridolin Chapel is still inhabited. Both chapels are still designated as stations on the stage of the Jakobsweg from Rottenburg am Neckar to Thann in Alsace . 53

The church, designed by Carl Friedrich Meerwein , was built in 1778 on the site of an older church from 1525. The tower is from the previous building, but has been raised. A bell from 1698 hangs in it. The nave runs in a north-south direction. After the secularization, the church became the property of the political community and therefore belongs to the city of Freiburg today.
