Rainer Disse

Rainer Disse (born May 5, 1928 in Gütersloh ; † February 5, 2008 in Karlsruhe ) was a German architect who worked primarily in the construction of churches . His preferred building material was concrete, his architectural style can be assigned to brutalism .

Life

After studying architecture with Egon Eiermann at the Technical University of Karlsruhe , Baden-Württemberg remained the center of his work.

In addition to much-noticed sacred buildings, he designed the atrium house group in the Karlsruhe Waldstadt (1962–1963), the Sebastian School in Karlsdorf-Neuthard (1963–1968), the hillside development with terraced houses in connection with the Catholic community center St. John the Baptist in Hornberg ( 1966–1973), large industrial buildings and numerous residential buildings.

He also worked out several development plans and site redevelopment plans. For one of his last major works, the US Bowling Center in Karlsruhe (1984–1987), he received a World Award .

Several of Rainer Disse's churches are now listed as historical monuments . His work archive is in the Southwest German Archive for Architecture and Civil Engineering .
