The Matthias Claudius Chapel is the church of the Protestant Christians in the Günterstal district of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau and is home to the smallest preaching district of the east pastoral office of the Evangelical Church in Freiburg.

The chapel was built according to plans by the Freiburg architect Walter Körte and was completed in 1962. A free-standing campanile for two bells is assigned to a compact structure with a gently sloping gable roof . The gable wall along the street is made entirely of concrete glass . The concrete structure cannot be overlooked inside either: the supports and girders stand out clearly as concrete ribs. On the back wall of the altar there is an almost life-size blessing figure of Christ made of bronze, whose design is reminiscent of the crucified Christ. It was created by the Emmendingen artist Ernst Thomann .

The two bells were cast by the Bachert bell foundry in 1962 . The Christ bell bears the inscription “Come here to me” and the smaller Matthias Claudius bell reads “ God, let us see your salvation ”. The small, single-manual organ from the Friedrich Weigle Orgelbau workshop was purchased in 1965.
