Anna Ahrens (writer, 1871)

Anna Ahrens (born October 5, 1871 in Riede ; † March 25, 1960 there ) was a Low German local poet . The Anna-Ahrens-Ways in Riede and Syke are named after her.

Live and act

Anna Ahrens spent her childhood in Riede, where her parents ran a mill . After attending school, she completed a nurse training at the outstations of the Hanoverian Henriettenstift . She then worked for twelve years as a community nurse in Warstade not far from the mouth of the Elbe . In 1921 she returned to her closer home and got a job as a community nurse and nurse in Syke. On October 1, 1931, she celebrated her 25th professional anniversary. In the mid-1930s she retired and devoted herself to her hobby, the Low German language. As early as 1900 she had published small articles about children's games , counting verses , proverbs , songs and customs in the magazine “ Niedersachsen ” . Around 1938 the cycle “Sleche Ways un Swarmer Wagens” was published, whose stories revolved around the villages of Riede, Ahausen and Dreye .
