Anna Bachmann-Eugster

Anna Bachmann-Eugster (born August 28, 1889 in Hundwil ; † August 5, 1966 in Effretikon ) was the first career counselor for women in Switzerland and co-founder of the Central Office for Women's Professions.

Life

Anna Bachmann-Eugster was born to Howard Eugster and Anna Theodora Züst . After a stay in England, she completed the social welfare course in Zurich and was subsequently elected the first Swiss career advisor for women. She was also a co-founder of the Central Office for Women's Professions, which was launched in 1923. From 1936 to 1942 she was also a member of the works commission.

In 1931, Bachmann-Eugster established a career advice center for women in the canton of Glarus. In addition, she founded the working group for domestic education and housekeeping, which she presided over until 1960. During the time of its presidency, the working group succeeded in enforcing the compulsory home economics lessons in Glarus. In 1957 Bachmann-Eugster co-founded the women's center in Glarus . Bachmann-Eugster was president of the women's headquarters until 1960.

Bachmann-Eugster married the engineer Theodor Bachmann in 1925.
