Francine Jeanprêtre
Francine Jeanprêtre (born July 6, 1946 in Neuchâtel ) is a Swiss lawyer and politician ( SP ).
Political career
After studying law, Jeanprêtre began her political career as a councilor of Morges in the canton of Vaud . From 1982 to 1989 she performed various functions, including urban planning. In 1987 she was elected to the National Council for the Social Democratic Party of the Canton of Vaud . In the National Council, she campaigned strongly against the sexual abuse of children at home and abroad. She also fought for the abolition of military justice. She was a member of the National Council until December 5, 1999.
In 1998 she was elected as a councilor (State Councilor) in the canton of Vaud and took over the education and youth department. In 2002 she stood for re-election, but lost her seat in the Vaudois executive. She herself saw this as a consequence of her focus on the work in the management. In retrospect, she said self-critically that she had neglected her public presence and network maintenance in concentrating on factual issues.
