Anna Bornemann

Anna Bornemann (born October 24, 1874 in Hamburg ; † April 26, 1956 in Darmstadt ) was a German painter .

Anna Bornemann was a student at the Hamburg School of Applied Arts and received her further artistic training at the Weimar Art School with Hans Olde . In 1904 she stayed in Paris . In 1911 she settled in Darmstadt and taught painting and life drawing . In 1913 and 1926 she was again in Paris. She painted still lifes , portraits and landscapes. Anna Bornemann was a member of the Reich Association of German Artists . In 1944, much of her work was lost in the British air raid on Darmstadt . Anna Bornemann's estate is in the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt .

During the Nazi era, her works were denigrated as "degenerate" and included in such exhibitions on Mathildenhöhe .
