Anna Brigadere (born September 19 July / October 1,  1861 greg. In Tērvete , Kurland Governorate , Russian Empire ; † June 25, 1933 ibid) was a Latvian writer .

Life

Anna Brigadere wrote comedies and plays . Her best known was Sprīdītis, the story of a young Latvian farmer boy who sets out to explore the world and has fantastic adventures in a nearby forest.

She is also the author of four autobiographical works, including Dievs, daba, darbs ( God, Nature, Work ) on the life of a Latvian woman in the late 19th century .
