Malegaon ( Marathi मालेगाव, Mālegāv) is a city in the Nashik district in the Indian state of Maharashtra .

It has about 470,000 inhabitants (2011 census). A majority of them are Muslim .

In 2001, 15 people were killed in rioting in Malegaon. On September 8, 2006, two bomb attacks on Muslim facilities left over 30 dead and around 100 injured. The Indian government blames the Pakistani secret service Inter-Services Intelligence for the attacks, which Pakistan denies.
