Pimpri-Chinchwad ( Marathi : पिंपरी चिंचवड , Pimprī Ciñcavaḍ ) is an industrial city with around 1.7 million inhabitants (2011 census) in the Pune metropolitan area in the Indian state of Maharashtra .

It is 191 kilometers southeast of Maharashtra's capital and India's largest city, Mumbai . Most of the city's population speaks Marathi .

Several large industrial groups such as Bajaj Auto , Tata Motors , Kinetic, Bajaj Tempo and SKF have settled in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
