Dhule ( Marathi : धुळे , Dhuḷe ) is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra with around 376,000 inhabitants (2011 census). It is the administrative seat of the Dhule district .

In 1601 Dhule became part of the Mughal Empire . In the 18th century the city came under the rule of the Marathas . In 1818 the British captured Dhule and incorporated it into the Khandesh district .
