Anna Buter lives in Tuitjenhorn. She plays for the A1 junior team of the first division team JuRo Unirek / VZV . She achieved her greatest successes to date as a beach handball player , where she played in all junior national teams in her country, from the U16 to the U18 junior national team. It started at the U-17 European Championships 2017 in Croatia and the U-17 World Championships, which were held for the first time in Flic-en-Flac on Mauritius . Here she was able to reach the final with her team and only there had to admit defeat to the team from Hungary. The highlight was participation in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires , where beach handball was played for the first time as part of the Olympic Games. The actual defensive specialist proved to be quite accurate, for example in the hard-fought main round match against Chinese Taipei she scored 14 points in eight attempts with seven goals, 12 of them in the second half of the game. From the main round she was one of the top scorers of her team in almost all games. The Netherlands reached the semi-finals, which they lost against Croatia in the shootout, and the game for third place was also lost against Hungary.

The following year, Buter was part of the Dutch women's national beach handball team for the Euro 2019 beach handball in Stare Jabłonki . Like her teammate Lisanne Bakker , Amber van der Meij and Marit van Ede , she made the direct jump from the junior to the senior national team, while clubmate Lynn Klesser was only removed from the squad immediately before the tournament. With the Dutch team she was able to achieve the greatest success to date and take third place. After losing again to Hungary in the semifinals, Croatia was beaten in the game for third place. Like the Netherlands, both teams consisted to a greater extent of participants from the Youth Olympic Games of the previous year. Buter was used in nine of the ten games and was the most successful scorer of her team with 83 points from 43 goals in 57 attempts.
