Anna Capodaglio , née Anna Adele Alberta Gramatica (born September 19, 1879 in Messina , † June 29, 1961 in Bologna ) was an Italian actress .

Life

The little sister of Irma and Emma Gramatica , like the entire family, embarked on an artistic career; Her different family name is explained by her marriage to Ruggero Capodaglio (1880 in Salerno - 1946 in Rome), the brother of the famous actress Wanda Capodaglio, who also worked as a performer .

In 1900 Capodaglio began her stage career next to sister Emma, moved to the company of Virgilio Talli and Oreste Calabrese , where she played with the young Ruggero Ruggeri . This was followed, again with Emma, on a long tour of America and Spain and an engagement alongside Alfredo Sainati in Mexico. Finally she could be seen next to sister-in-law Wanda.

When it came to film, possible first silent film experiences before the First World War with the Turin-based “Itala Film” were only offset by late engagements from 1936, in which the tall, slim, wiry-looking Capodaglio played character roles as governess, domestic servant and elderly mother until the end of the Second World War , Nun or nurse took over. After the death of her husband, Capodaglio stopped all artistic activities and lived in an old people's home for artists in Bologna from the late 1950s. Surprisingly, she was last seen in Liliana Cavani's documentary Gente di teatro in 1960 .
