Wanda Capodaglio
Wanda Capodaglio (born January 1, 1889 in Asti , † August 30, 1980 in Castelfranco di Sopra ) was an Italian actress .
Life
Capodaglio was born into a family of artists; five brothers, including the most famous Ruggero, who later became Anna Gramatica's husband , were actors, as were her parents, Tullio and Ida Secorini. As a child she was already on stage - for the first time in the “Teatro Valle” in Rome . In 1905 she signed a contract in the role of "lover and supporting actress" with the "Compagnia Picello", which was directed by Enrico Paladini . Three seasons later, Capodaglio, quite small, with unusual facial features and highly gifted, became first lady with Paladini- Gina Favre , then in the ensemble of Irma Gramatica . Further positions as a young leading actress, changing annually, followed: with the comedians Rodolfi-Nipoti-Spani, with Luigi Zoncada - isa Severi , Antonio Gandusio - Lyda Borelli - Ugo Piperno (two years), with the ensemble around Ruggero Ruggeri (also two years) and 1918 again with Irma Gramatica.
The climax of her stage career followed: for four years, Capodaglio was the undisputed first lady in the ensemble with Uberto Palmarini , before she switched to Virgilio Talli - Romano Calò - Enrico Olivieri in 1924 and founded her own theater group with Marcello Gordia the following year , with which she founded u. a. Performed pieces by Luigi Pirandello , Nikolai N. Ewreinow and Ferenc Molnár . In the 1930s she played alongside Alexander Moissi and then took a break from her active career. In 1937 she celebrated a triumphant return to the stage with the “Compagnia Nazionale” alongside Annibale Betrone , Luigi Carini and her husband (since 1919) Pio Campa . From 1939 on, she taught acting for many years at the Accademia nazionale d'arte drammatica and thus came into contact with many later stars of Italian film and the stage.
After initial experience in silent films in the works of Carmine Gallone in the mid-1910s, Capodaglio was only seen on the screen from the beginning of the Second World War, and here too only in manageable numbers, whereby she was in the character field as a distinguished lady, authoritarian marquise ( Gelosia , 1942 ) or older woman ( Chronicle of poor lovers , 1954). From the mid-1950s until her retirement at the end of the 1960s, she was also recruited for television work.
