Castelfranco di Sopra is a district of the municipality of Castelfranco Piandiscò in the province of Arezzo . Castelfranco di Sopra has a medieval town center that belongs to the association I borghi più belli d'Italia (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy).

Castelfranco di Sopra is located approx. 30 km northwest of Arezzo and 30 km southeast of Florence in the Arno valley .
history
Castelfranco di Sopra was founded by Florence in 1299. On January 1, 2014, the previously independent municipality was merged with the neighboring municipality of Pian di Scò to form the new municipality of Castelfranco Piandiscò . The municipality had 3098 on December 31, 2013 on an area of 38 km². The municipality belonging fractions Caspri, Certignano, llama, and Pietravigne Pulicciano. The neighboring municipality were Castel San Niccolò , Figline Valdarno ( FI ), Loro Ciuffenna , Pian di Scò, Reggello (FI), San Giovanni Valdarno and Terranuova Bracciolini .
Attractions
- Palazzo Comunale - The Palazzo Comunale is said to have been preserved in its original form. The coat of arms of the Podestà are attached to the palace facade . In the palace itself, the Sala consiliare with the fresco of the Madonna del latte (late 16th century) is noteworthy.
- Chiesa di San Filippo Neri - The facade was built in 1761. The oratory was built in 1631. In 1666 it was enlarged.
- Torre d'Arnolfo or Porta Campana - This building dates back to 1300. The Porta Campana is adorned with the Florentine lily and was built by Arnolfo di Cambio .
