Gastone Simoni (born April 9, 1937 in Castelfranco di Sopra , Arezzo Province , Italy ) is Bishop Emeritus of Prato .

Life

Gastone Simoni was ordained a priest on January 1, 1960 . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Prato on December 7, 1991 .

The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on January 6th of the following year ; Co-consecrators were Josip Uhač , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Giovanni Battista Re , substitute for the State Secretariat . The inauguration in Prato followed on February 23, 1991.

On September 29, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Gastone Simoni for reasons of age and appointed him apostolic administrator of the diocese of Prato until the inauguration of his successor, Franco Agostinelli .
