Franco Agostinelli (born January 1, 1944 in Arezzo ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Prato .

Life

Franco Agostinelli was ordained a priest on June 9, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Grosseto on November 17, 2001 . The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were Leonardo Sandri , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Robert Sarah , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples . As a motto he chose In verbo tuo .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Prato on September 29, 2012 . Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 15, 2019.
