Giovanni Santucci (born May 14, 1949 in Pietrasanta , Province of Lucca , Italy ) is Bishop of Massa Carrara-Pontremoli .

Life

The Archbishop of Pisa , Benvenuto Matteucci , ordained him a priest on June 28, 1974 . Then Santucci was parish vicar at the Cathedral of Pontedera until 1981 . In October 1987 he became a regens of the Pisa seminary, which he remained until June 1995. He then returned to his home town of Pietrasanta as a parish priest.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Massa Marittima - Piombino on October 28, 1999 . The bishop of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro , Gualtiero Bassetti , ordained him episcopal on December 5th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Gaetano Bonicelli , Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino , and Alessandro Plotti , Archbishop of Pisa .

On May 19, 2010 he was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Massa Carrara-Pontremoli and appointed to office on June 29 of the same year. In 2018 Santucci was accused of covering the misappropriation of parish funds by the priest Gianluca Morini. However, the bishop was acquitted of this charge by a court in November 2018.
