Alessandro Plotti (born August 8, 1932 in Bologna , Italy , † October 19, 2015 in Rome ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Pisa .

Life

Alessandro Plotti was ordained a priest for the diocese of Rome on July 25, 1959 . In the following years he worked as a chaplain and theology professor.

Pope . John Paul II appointed him on 23 December 1980 titular bishop of Vannida as well as auxiliary bishop in Rome and donated him on 6 January 1981 in St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination ; Co - consecrators were Archbishop Giovanni Canestri , Auxiliary Bishop in Rome, and Belchior Joaquim da Silva Neto CM , Bishop of Luz . On June 7, 1986, John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Pisa ; the ceremonial inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on June 17th of the same year. In Pisa he restructured the administration and ensured that pastoral work was strengthened.

On February 2, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age. Plotti then moved back to Rome. On May 19, 2012 Benedict XVI appointed him. as Apostolic Administrator of Trapani , which he remained until November 3, 2013.
