Angelo Fagiani

Angelo Fagiani (born April 18, 1943 in Monterubbiano , Fermo province , † July 4, 2020 in Fermo ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Camerino-San Severino Marche .

Life

Angelo Fagiani was ordained a priest on March 13, 1967 after completing his theological training . He was pastor in Civitanova Alta and the parish of Santissima Annunziata in Porto Sant'Elpidio and professor of moral theology at the Theological Institute in Fermo and rector of the Archbishop's Seminary in Fermo.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Camerino-San Severino Marche on April 14, 1997 . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop of Fermo , Cleto Bellucci , on May 31 of that year; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Piergiorgio Silvano Nesti CP and Crescenzio Sepe . His episcopal motto was "Maior est caritas".

Angelo Fagiani was heavily involved in social work. His diocese was badly affected by the earthquake in September 1997. In the regions of Umbria and Marche, an earthquake damaged the Basilica of Assisi and around 9,000 other buildings.

On September 3, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his early resignation request for health reasons.
