The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Camerino-San Severino Marche ( Latin Archidioecesis Camerinensis-Sancti Severini in Piceno , Italian Arcidiocesi di Camerino-San Severino Marche ) is one in Italy located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Camerino .
The Marche diocese covers 31 parishes in the Macerata Province and three parishes in the Ancona Province.
history
The Camerino diocese was established in the 3rd century . In 1320 this gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Macerata . The seminary of the Camerino diocese was established in 1597.
On December 17, 1787, the Diocese of Camerino by Pope Pius VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum apostolica raised to the archbishopric. It was directly subordinate to the Holy See . Since June 21, 1979, the Archdiocese of Camerino and the Diocese of San Severino were administered in personal union. On September 30, 1986, the Archdiocese of Camerino was annexed by the Congregation for the Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis, the Diocese of San Severino. The Archdiocese of Camerino-San Severino Marche was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Fermo as a suffragan .
Pope Francis united the Archdiocese of Camerino-San Severino Marche on June 27, 2020 in persona episcopi with the Diocese of Fabriano-Matelica . Archbishop Francesco Massara , previously Apostolic Administrator , was also appointed Bishop of Fabriano-Matelica.
