The three-aisled basilica was built from brick to designs by Andrea Vici and later his son-in-law Clemente Folchi . The low and narrow aisles are separated by rows of columns with partition walls that support the barrel vault of the central nave. The partition walls present statues of bishops in niches. The choir adjoins with a round apse , on both sides the divided organ was installed. The twin-tower facade is a supported by four pillars portico prefixed with triangular gable, the facade passes into the adjacent Bishop's Palace. Various parts of the church furnishings have been preserved from the previous church , a polychrome wooden crucifix from the 13th century and the Madonna della Misercordia from the 15th century. In the crypt are two stone lions by Armanno Piaraco from the end of the 13th century.
