Francesco Massara (born July 1, 1965 in Tropea , Province of Vibo Valentia , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Camerino-San Severino Marche and Bishop of Fabriano-Matelica .

Life

After visiting the Liceo Pasquale Galluppi in Tropea, Francesco Massara began studying philosophy at La Sapienza University in Rome in 1983 and studying library and archival studies at the Vatican School of Paleography, Diplomatics and Archival Studies . He completed both subjects in 1988 with a diploma . Then Massara entered the Pontifical Roman Seminary as an alumne of the Diocese of Mileto-Nicotera-Tropea and began studying Catholic theology at the Pontifical Lateran University . He received on 17 April 1993, the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1994 Massara obtained a degree in dogmatics .

From 1992 to 1995, Francesco Massara was an assistant at the Pontifical Roman Seminary before returning to his home diocese and becoming director of the Diocesan Center for Vocations . In 1996 he was appointed pastor of the parish of San Nicola Vescovo in Vazzano . In addition, from 1996 to 1999 Massara was a member of the Council of Priests and the Diocesan Pastoral Council as well as an employee of the Diocean Caritas . From 1999 to 2003, in addition to his pastoral work, he was in charge of the diocesan administrative office. In 2006, Francesco Massara became General Economist of the Pontifical Roman Seminary and Secretary of the Administrative Council of the Associazione Missionari Imperiali . Since February 2017, Massara has been pastor of the parish of San Pantaleone Martire in Limbadi , vice director of the diocesan administrative office and again a member of the council of priests.

On July 27, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Camerino-San Severino Marche. The bishop of Mileto-Nicotera-Tropea, Luigi Renzo , donated him episcopal ordination on October 6th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the retired Archbishop of Camerino-San Severino Marche , Francesco Giovanni Brugnaro , the Archbishop of Catanzaro-Squillace , Vincenzo Bertolone SdP , the Archbishop of Urbino-Urbania-Sant'Angelo in Vado , Giovanni Tani , and the Archbishop of Fermo , Rocco Pennacchio . The inauguration took place on October 21, 2018.

Since July 26, 2019, Francesco Massara has also been Apostolic Administrator of Fabriano-Matelica . Pope Francis united the Archdiocese of Camerino-San Severino Marche on June 27, 2020 in persona episcopi with the Diocese of Fabriano-Matelica, whose Bishop Francesco Massara was also appointed.
