Michael Nicolaj Rosing (* 1968 in Aasiaat ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Suleqatigiissitsisut ) and teacher .

Life

Michael Rosing was born in 1968 in Aasiaat, the son of a Greenlander and a Danish woman. His brothers are the director Otto Rosing (* 1967) and the actor Lars Rosing (* 1972). He grew up in Ilulissat and later in Aarhus in Denmark . He graduated from high school in Viby in 1988 and then moved to Sisimiut . In 1990 he moved to Oregon where he improved his English in Ashland , and early the following year he began studying biology and statistics at Fairbanks , Alaska . He graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1994 and also received a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1995 . In 1999, he completed his Masters in Quantitative Ecology and Resource Management at the University of Washington in Seattle . After graduating, he moved to Nuuk , where he worked at the Pinngortitaleriffik Nature Institute and later taught mathematics at the grammar school and statistics at the University of Greenland .

In 2002 he started writing letters to the editor. Until 2007 he was chairman of the Demokraatit in Nuuk, after he had already run in the 2005 parliamentary election and with 86 votes had missed the entry into Inatsisartut . In 2009 he received only 57 votes. He ran for the 2011 Folketing election , but clearly missed a place with the second fewest votes (168). In 2012 he was appointed Vice Chairman of Demokraatit. In the 2013 election he received 53 votes and was therefore unable to get a seat in parliament in the third attempt, but only got fourth place. However, after Palle Christiansen gave up his parliamentary seat in October 2013 , which was taken over by Anda Uldum , the second Inatsisartut member Jens B. Frederiksen also left parliament in January 2014, and because Ulrik Blidorf and Justus Hansen resigned, Michael Rosing moved for the first time in Inatsisartut. In the 2014 election , Michael Rosing achieved 102 votes, making it the fifth most of his party, which was allocated four parliamentary seats. Because Anda Uldum and Nivi Olsen had been drafted into the government, Rosing moved up with Tillie Martinussen . In April 2017 he was expelled from his parliamentary group after an internal party dispute , but was allowed to return in May. However, due to persistent differences, he left the party in September of the same year. In early 2018, Michael Rosing and Tillie Martinussen announced the founding of a new party. The Suleqatigiissitsisut reached a place, which however went to Tillie Martinussen. In June Michael Rosing took over a mandate in the local council of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq , which had become vacant through the withdrawal of Nivi Olsen, whereby Tillie Martinussen renounced the place she was actually entitled to in order to avoid a double mandate.

Michael Rosing reached the final of the Gourmand World Cookbook Award in 2013 with his cookbook Tuttu qaqqamiit qanermut / Rensdyr fra fjeld til fad ( German  reindeer from mountain to mouth / onto the plate ) .

In addition to his native Danish, he also speaks Greenlandic, English, German and French.
