Jens Blidorf Frederiksen (born October 19, 1967 in Nanortalik ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Demokraatit ), police officer and entrepreneur .

Life

Jens B. Frederiksen was born the son of Tage Frederiksen (1945-2020), who was mayor of the municipality of Nanortalik from 1975 to 1984 , and a Danish woman and grew up with Danish as his mother tongue. For a long time he had to take criticism for still giving his parliamentary speeches in his poorer Greenlandic .

He was trained as a technical assistant, but has worked for the police since 1990, where he achieved the rank of deputy commissioner. In 2006 he became chairman of the Greenland Red Cross before his mother took over from him in 2008. From 2005 to 2013 he also owned two companies and in early 2014 became Vice Director at True North Gems Greenland . Since 2017 he has been a director at Nuuk's urban development company Siorarsiorfik .

He was first elected to Inatsisartut in 2005 . In 2008 he was elected party chairman of Demokraatit against the then chairman Per Berthelsen , with 14 votes against . After the parliamentary elections in 2009, he was appointed Minister for Housing, Infrastructure and Transport, and Kuupik Kleist's Deputy Prime Minister . In 2011 his ministry was renamed to that of Housing, Infrastructure and Climate. In the 2013 Inatsisartut election, Frederiksen was re-elected. In 2014, he was replaced by Anda Uldum as chairman of Demokraatit, after he had also given back his parliamentary seat in March with his employment with True North Gems Greenland.
