Nivi Olsen

Nivi Olsen (* 1985 ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Demokraatit ).

Life

Her father is the local politician Bernhardt Olsen. She has two children. Nivi Olsen was ministerial secretary in the Ministry of Finance from 2007 to 2009. After that, she was a work consultant at Qaasuitsup Kommunia for one year and then raw materials consultant there until 2012. From 2012 to 2014 she taught at Niuernermik Ilinniarfik . In 2014 she graduated as a candidate in social sciences at Ilisimatusarfik .

She ran for the first time in the 2014 general election . There she immediately received 1,428 votes, the fourth most of all candidates and most of her party. She was then appointed Minister for Culture, Education and the Church in Naalakkersuisut . After a minor restructuring in the Kielsen I cabinet , she was also given the research department in November 2015. In January 2016 she announced that she would apply for the party chairmanship as the successor to the resigned Anda Uldum , but revised this a few days later. In October 2016 the government was dissolved and replaced by the Kielsen II cabinet , in which the Democrats were no longer represented. In the 2017 local elections, she received 467 votes and was appointed Vice Mayor of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq . In the 2018 parliamentary election , she received 874 votes and thus again a place in the Inatsisartut . In June 2018 she moved from Nuuk to Qeqertarsuaq , temporarily giving up her seat on the local council, which Michael Rosing took. She ran for the 2019 Folketing election and received the fourth most votes of all candidates, which means she missed a seat in the Folketing . In July 2019, she succeeded Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen as the interim party chairman of Demokraatit for Niels Thomsen, who was on leave and later resigned .
