Rocco Pennacchio (born June 16, 1963 in Matera , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Fermo .

Life

Rocco Pennacchio initially trained as an accountant and then worked for the Banco di Napoli in Matera. In 1993 he entered the Interdiocesan Seminary in Potenza , where he studied philosophy and Catholic theology . Pennacchio received on 4 July 1998 the Archbishop of Matera-Irsina , Antonio Ciliberti , the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then obtained a degree in theological anthropology from the Istituto Teologico Pugliese in Molfetta .

From 1998 to 2010 Rocco Pennacchio was parish vicar in the parish of San Paolo Apostolo in Matera. He was also diocesan ecclesiastical assistant of the Federazione Universitaria Cattolica Italiana (FUCI) and the youth department of the Catholic Action . From 2001 to 2011 Pennacchio was a religion teacher at the municipal high school in Matera and from 2004 to 2010 diocesan economist of the Archdiocese of Matera-Irsina. He was then an economist at the Italian Bishops' Conference before becoming pastor of the parish of San Pio X in Matera in October 2016 .

On September 14, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Fermo. The Archbishop of Matera-Irsina, Antonio Giuseppe Caiazzo , donated him episcopal ordination on November 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the retired Archbishop of Fermo , Luigi Conti , and the Archbishop of Potenza-Muro Lucano-Marsico Nuovo , Salvatore Ligorio . The inauguration took place on December 2, 2017.
