history

The diocese of Prato was united with the diocese of Pistoia from September 22, 1653 to January 25, 1954 Aeque principaliter . On January 25, 1954, the Prato diocese became an independent diocese. It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Florence as a suffragan .
