The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pitigliano-Sovana- Orbetello ( lat. : Dioecesis Pitilianensis-Soanensis-Urbetelliensis , ital. : Diocese of Pitigliano-Sovana-Orbetello ) is in Italy situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Pitigliano .

history

The Diocese of Pitigliano - Sovana - Orbetello was established in the 7th century as the Diocese of Sovana . On April 23, 1459, the Diocese of Sovana was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Siena as a suffragan . In 1844 the diocese of Sovana was renamed the Diocese of Sovana-Pitigliano .

The diocese of Sovana-Pitigliano was renamed on March 25, 1981 in the Diocese of Sovana-Pitigliano-Orbetello . On September 30, 1986, the diocese of Sovana-Pitigliano -Orbetello was renamed by the Congregation for the Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis in the Diocese of Pitigliano-Sovana-Orbetello .
