Frank Cavendish Lascelles

Sir Frank Cavendish Lascelles GCB , GCMG , GCVO , PC (born March 23, 1841 in London , † January 2, 1920 ibid) was a British diplomat .

Life

He served as ambassador to Russia and Germany.

Lascelles was the fifth son of Lady Caroline Georgiana and William Saunders Sebright Lascelles.

He studied at Harrow School before joining the foreign service in 1861. He has been employed in Madrid, Paris, Rome, Washington, DC, and Athens. From March 20 to October 10, 1879 he was Consul General in Egypt, under the rule of Ismail Pasha . From 1879 to 1887 Lascelles was Consul General in Sofia Bulgaria, which emerged as an autonomous principality from the Berlin Congress in 1878. From 1887 to 1891 Lascelles was envoy to Bucharest Romania. From 1891 to 1894 Lascelles was ambassador to Tehran , Persia, where his niece Gertrude Bell visited him. This reported a cholera epidemic in Tehran in the summer of 1892.

From 1894 to 1895 Lascelles was ambassador to Saint Petersburg . From 1895 to 1908 Lascelles was ambassador to Berlin . During his tenure in Berlin, Wilhelm II sent the Krüger dispatch . Lascelles became KCMG in 1886, GCMG in 1892, GCB in 1897 and GCVO in 1904. In 1892 he was accepted into the Privy Council .

In 1869 he married Mary Lascelles Emma Olliffe (* 1845; † 1897). Your children were:
