Ewald Brandt

Ewald Brandt (born November 24, 1928 in Hanover ; † December 17, 1983 there ) was a German sculptor .

Ewald Brandt was born as the son of the painter Paula Brandt . In 1948 he completed a traineeship in a bronze foundry in Düsseldorf in order to study in Braunschweig at the Werkkunstschule Braunschweig with Paul Egon Schiffers in 1949 . From 1952 he continued his studies at the Accademia di Belli Arti in Florence .

In 1954, Ewald Brandt set up a studio in Hanover-Bothfeld . In 1960 he received a teaching position at the Werkkunstschule Hannover . In 1972 a teaching position followed at the Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences . One year later (until 1982) Brandt was a lecturer at the Volkshochschule Hannover and from 1980 onwards was also a lecturer at the Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences .

In 1979 Brandt had his residence and studio at Burgwedeler Straße 96 in Hanover.

In particular, Ewald Brandt created highly abstracting sculptures , some of which are life-size works in school yards in Hanover, for example

  • Seesaw , 1958, sculpture in the Hoffmann-von-Fallersleben School (Ebelingstraße);
  • Leapfrog , 1959 cast of the Erzbildgiesserei Haberland , elementary school on Welfenplatz and
  • Stand in the way , 1966, elementary school on the Horst.

In 1985 Ewald Brandt, who had previously exhibited many times in his own studio and was involved in several exhibitions at the art associations in Hanover and Braunschweig , organized a retrospective of works in the Städtische Galerie Kubus , for which an exhibition catalog was also published;
