Anna Crilly

Anna Crilly (* 1975 in Kent , England ) is a British actress and comedian .

Crilly attended Middlesex University , where she studied performing arts . She was in the finals of the 2003 So You Think You're Funny competition at the Gilded Balloon Theater and performed two shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe the following year. Since 2006 she plays the role of Magda, an Eastern European housekeeper in the BBC - sitcom Lead Balloon . Her expressionless appearance was described as a "withdrawal from the scene" . She had an audition for John O'Farrell's radio show NewsBiscuit.com , with Crilly playing the co-host of the fictional radio stationNewsBiscuit , based on the website of the same namecreated by O'Farrell. According to O'Farrell, the show was an opportunity for new writers and actors to spread their talent. The pilot show could be continued as a series.

In December 2008 she was nominated for the British Comedy Award for Best Female Newcomer , for her portrayal of Eastern European Magda in Lead Balloon , the award finally won by Katy Brand .

She is one of the actresses in the series Die Mannohnekopf Show (English Sorry, I've got no head ). In the German edition, Martina Hill speaks Anna Crilly .

Anna's brother is the journalist and author Rob Crilly .
