Anna Hagenbusch (born July 26, 1913 in Neu-Ulm ; † September 6, 2005 in Stuttgart ) was a German kindergarten teacher, social worker and head of department for early childhood education in the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture .

Live and act

Anna Maria was the oldest of four children. The parents, the Reichsbahnzugführer Kaspar Hagenbusch and his wife Anna, b. Gansler were deeply religious Catholics. Accordingly, the children grew up in a family atmosphere shaped by the Catholic Church. After completing elementary school and later secondary school, Anna Hagenbusch completed her training as a kindergarten teacher and after-school care worker in Ulm at the "St. Maria" seminar there, founded and led by the "Franziskanerinnen von Reute". She then worked as a private tutor, including for the Italian diplomatic and count family Pecori-Giraldi. From 1942 to 1944 she was the director of an NSV kindergarten in an emergency area in the city of Ulm . Since she no longer wanted to cooperate with the Nazi system, she was forced to do office work within the Reichsbahn.

After the collapse of the Nazi dictatorship, Anna Hagenbusch became involved in the Catholic community in Neu-Ulm. There she built up the parish youth and took care of the many refugees and displaced persons from the East who were crowding into the city. She also graduated from May 1948 to August 1949 in Freiburg / Brsg. the Caritas youth leader seminar. Immediately afterwards she took over the management of the "Bavarian State Association of Catholic Day-Care Centers" in Munich. (today: "Association of Catholic Child Day Care Facilities Bavaria"). On her initiative, several annual courses were held to acquire post-qualification for untrained secular and monastic staff in Catholic kindergartens, after-school care centers and homes. In addition, there were further training courses for the acquisition of the mission for religious education as well as "courses for kindergarten education" lasting several days in many church provinces in Bavaria. The latter courses were used to introduce Schörl pedagogy as a pedagogical concept in Catholic preschool institutions.

At the age of 57, Anna Hagenbusch dared to change jobs and took on the position of specialist advisor for matters relating to early childhood education, kindergartens, after-school care centers and playgrounds in the "Bavarian Ministry of Education", where the then Minister of Education, Hans Maier, was her superior. There she was responsible for the cooperation between the charities and the state. She was also one of the initiators of the State Institute for Early Education and the Bavarian Kindergarten Act, which came into force on January 1, 1973.

Anna Hagenbusch held many honorary positions. She was, among other things, federal chairman of the “Professional Association of Catholic Educators and Social Pedagogues of Germany” (BKESD), independent expert in the “Commission for Pre-School Education of the European Countries” at the EC in Brussels, member of the Presidium of the “Working Group of Catholic Associations for Education and Schools”, and in the "German National Committee for Education in Early Childhood".

Anna Hagenbuch, who suffered from severe dementia in old age, moved to live with family members in Stuttgart in 2001 because she could be better cared for there.
