Anna hunter
Anna Jäger , married Anna Scheff ( January 18, 1862 in Vienna - February 7, 1937 in Frankfurt am Main ) was an Austro-German opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Anna Jäger was the daughter of a bank clerk, a highly musical man who unfortunately was not trained as a singer by his parents (without knowing a note, he played the violin perfectly and his beautiful baritone voice received undivided recognition). Jäger had inherited her musical sense from him, which was still to a large extent found in her daughter Fritzi Scheff .
Not yet seven years old, because her beautiful voice made itself felt early on, she attended a larger singing school and sang in church as a child.
When she was fifteen, it was decided to train her for the stage. She took lessons from Adele Passy-Cornet . During this time she became a mother at only 17, her daughter was born on August 30, 1879. In 1883 she was able to start her first engagement in Graz. In 1885 she came to Nuremberg and from there to the Frankfurt Opera House, after having worked as a guest at the kk Hofoperntheater in Vienna for six weeks. Jäger, who began her stage career as an opera soubrette, but then moved on to the youthful-dramatic field, possessed a soft, round soprano with a rich sound that clings to every inner emotion.
It was not uncommon to hear mother and daughter singing together, Hans von Bülow was their great patron. Jäger was an excellent interpreter of Wagner.
From 1897 to 1904 she worked at the court theater in Munich and then went to America, where from 1904 she was one of the most celebrated operetta artists.
She died in Frankfurt am Main in 1937.
