Adele Passy-Cornet (born January 22, 1838 in Braunschweig , † November 2, 1915 in Nuremberg ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Passy-Cornet was a daughter of the opera singers Julius and Franziska Cornet . After receiving artistic lessons from his mother, Passy-Cornet went to Hamburg and took singing lessons there. Then she was hired to Austria and entered a. a. at concerts at the Viennese court.

Later she also appeared as Koloratrice in her home country; u. a. in Braunschweig, Hamburg and Hanover . At the age of 27, Passy-Cornet got an engagement at the Theater am Kärntnertor in Vienna in 1865 and made his debut there with outstanding success as "Queen of the Night". Although she was able to achieve great success in a short time and could choose her engagements and tours, she soon devoted herself only to the occasional concert singing. She married and her children were Anna Prasch-Passy , Anton Passy-Cornet and Josef Passy-Cornet .

Passy-Cornet founded a private singing school in Vienna and headed it until 1881, before she accepted a position as docent for singing and voice training at the Franz Liszt Music Academy ( Budapest ). In 1892 she gave up this office and returned to Germany. She settled in Nuremberg and worked there as a singing teacher for several years.
