Anna Maria Crouch
Anna Maria Crouch (born April 20, 1763 , † October 2, 1805 in Brighton ) was an English actress and opera singer ( soprano ). She was also the mistress of the Prince of Wales , later King George IV.
Life
Anna Maria was already on stage as a child; her star role was Polly Peachum in The Beggar's Opera . In 1784 she married Mr. Crouch, and from 1787 led a liaison with the Irish actor and musician Michael Kelly (1762-1826). In 1790 she came to Brighton to play at the Duke Street Theater . Here she met the Prince Regent George (IV.) (1762-1830) know and love. The connection didn't last long, but he financed it for a few more years. Anna Maria Crouch died in Brighton on October 2, 1805 and was buried in the cemetery of St. Nicholas' Church in Brighton.
