Anna Maria of Braunschweig-Calenberg-Göttingen
Anna Maria von Braunschweig-Calenberg-Göttingen (born April 23, 1532 in Münden , † March 20, 1568 in Neuhausen near Königsberg ) was Duchess of Prussia by marriage from February 16, 1550 until her husband's death on March 20, 1568 .
Life
Anna Maria was the daughter of Duke Erich I of Braunschweig-Calenberg (1470–1540) and Elisabeth of Brandenburg (1510–1558). She married Margrave Albrecht I of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1490–1568) in Königsberg on February 16, 1550 , who was the first Duke of Prussia since 1525. On March 20, 1568 Albrecht died of the plague at Tapiau Castle , 16 hours after his death so did his second wife Anna Maria.
Their marriage resulted in a daughter, Elisabeth (1551–1596), and a son, who succeeded the Prussian Duke, Albrecht Friedrich (1553–1618).
