Anna Metze-Kirchberg

Anna Metze-Kirchberg (born September 21, 1907 in Kirchberg (Saxony) , † February 14, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German writer.

Life

Anna Metze-Kirchberg, actually Anna Metze, was born in 1907 as the daughter of a carpenter and a Bohemian farm worker in Kirchberg near Zwickau . As a child she had to work in the textile industry and later became a seamstress. From 1930 she was a housewife and was disabled twelve years later. With the "Lullaby in War" she began to write her own poems. She began to try out various forms of literature and later joined the Young Authors ' Working Group , which was strongly supported by Walther Victor . It was only at the age of 50 that she began to go public with her post-war poetry and prose. Since 1955 she worked as a freelance author in Karl-Marx-Stadt, today Chemnitz, and from 1957 a member of the GDR Writers' Association . She wrote novels, short stories and poems. In 1960 she received the art award of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district council for her work The will of man is his kingdom of heaven . Furthermore, she was honored in 1967 with the Erich Weinert Medal and for her active social work in the DFD and in the Kulturbund with the DFD badge of honor in silver and gold and the Johannes R. Becher Medal .
