Anna Serret i Almenara (* 1988 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan pianist and music teacher who is in the tradition of the Catalan Pianist School .

life and work

Serret studied piano with Jordi Vilaprinyó at the Conservatori Municipal de Barcelona and graduated with top marks. She was also a student of Xavier Boliart and Carles Guinovart , from whom she acquired in-depth knowledge of harmony, composition and music analysis. Overall, she acquired a profound understanding of music, which is expressed in her respective interpretations. She completed in-depth studies in piano with Manuela Gouveia at the Academy of Music in Catalonia ( Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya , ESMuC) with the highest honors and wrote a scientific paper on Chopin there. As a result, she was offered concert appearances, lectures and a documentary film on Catalan television. To perfect her pianistic skills, she completed postgraduate studies with Albert Attenelle , a representative of the Catalan pianist school. She completed master classes with Paul Badura-Skoda , an excellent representative of the Vienna School, in Catalonia, Portugal and Italy. Her interest in a varied, permanent musical education made her complete further master classes with Boris Berman , Vitaly Margulis , Edith Fischer , Christian Zacharias , Luiz de Moura Castro and others.

She began her career as a concert pianist at a young age. As a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles, she performed at international concert cycles and music festivals in Catalonia, and later in all of Spain and Europe. She is described by music critics as an outstanding interpreter with unusual pianistic skills. She has won awards in both piano competitions and chamber music competitions, including the Arts Musicals y Concurs de Piano in Barcelona. She won the Río Órbigo piano competition in Veguellina de Órbigo .

Anna Serret was admitted to the Conservatori Municipal de Barcelona in 2010 at the age of 22 .

Anna Serret is considered a pioneer in the use of the harmony pedal, the fourth piano pedal, in Catalonia, Spain and worldwide. In doing so, she continues to develop the tradition of the Catalan School of Pianists, which has always placed particular emphasis on the use of the pedals in piano performance.
