List of classical pianists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of classical pianists illustrates the tradition of pianist training in historical order during the 19th and early 20th centuries, which for the majority of well-known classical pianists can be traced back to a few lines / schools. Since the middle of the 20th century, however, the meaning of the "famous teacher" , which originated in Romanticism, has declined.

The students are indented under the (most important) teacher and, as far as this is still possible, sorted chronologically. For a more comprehensive list, sorted by alphabet, see List of Pianists .
