Adrian Aeschbacher
Adrian Aeschbacher (born May 10, 1912 in Langenthal ; † November 9, 2002 in Zurich ) was a Swiss pianist .
Life
Adrian Aeschbacher was first trained by his father, the choir conductor Carl Aeschbacher, and then went to the Zurich Conservatory . There were Emil Frey and Volkmar Andreae his teachers. He then studied with Artur Schnabel in Berlin for two years . His concert activities began in 1934 with a European tour, which mainly extended to Europe and, to a lesser extent, to South America. As the successor to the pianists Walter Gieseking and Andor Foldes , he was professor in the piano major at the Saarland University for Music and Theater from 1965 to 1977 .

Adrian Aeschbacher was known as an excellent interpreter of the works of Beethoven , Schubert , Schumann and Brahms . His playing during the war years is documented on tapes of the former Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft (RRG). After the war he made some recordings for Deutsche Grammophon . Aeschbacher also left recordings at various ARD broadcasters .
Adrian Aeschbacher was the father of the conductor Matthias Aeschbacher .
