Albert Giménez i Atenelle - he also performs under the name Albert Atenelle - (* 1937 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan classical pianist and music teacher. Giménez is assigned to the Catalan School of Pianists .

life and work

Albert Giménez was born in Barcelona in 1937 into a family of musicians. At the age of six he gave his first public concert. The pianist and music teacher Frank Marshall , who attended this concert, immediately took over the boy's further education. In 1957 Giménez went to study with Marcel Ciampi at the Paris Conservatory . Giménez has received several international prizes, such as B. at the Concours Musical Reine Elisabeth 1960 in Brussels or at the Vianna da Motta Competition 1962 in Lisbon.

With the two Andorran brothers, the violinist Gerard and the cellist Lluís Claret , Giménez founded the Trio de Barcelona in 1981 . Albert Giménez works together with the Claret brothers at his private music school in Barcelona.

Giménez has recorded the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Luis de Pablo under the direction of Antoni Ros Marbà and the Concerto for Piano and Strings by Robert Gerhard under Lawrence Foster on sound carriers. He also recorded works by Frederic Mompou , Déodat de Séverac and Joaquín Nin-Culmell . In the 1999/2000 season he interpreted the Concerto breve by Xavier Montsalvatge and in 2000 the Fantasia for Piano, Choir and Orchestra op. 80 by Ludwig van Beethoven with the Orquestra Nacional d'Espanya .

Giménez's son, also named Albert Giménez (* 1970), also works as a pianist and music teacher at the Badalona Conservatory and as a repertorist at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya .
