Lluís Claret

Lluís Claret (* 1951 in Andorra la Vella ) is an Andorran cellist .

Lluís Claret is the son of the Andorran politician Andreu Claret i Casadessús (1908-2005), his brother is the violinist Gerard Claret .

He began his musical studies at the age of nine and moved to Barcelona in 1964 , where he received great recognition at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu . He first studied with Enric Casals for several years and then u. a. with Radu Aldulescu , Eva Janzer and Maurice Gendron in Italy, France and the USA. György Sebők and Bernard Greenhouse were also artistically formative for him .

He became internationally known after winning first prizes at international cello competitions in Bologna (1975), the International Pablo Casals Competition (1976) and the Concours de Violoncelle Rostropovitch ( Concours internationaux de la Ville de Paris ) (1977) .

Claret has given concerts worldwide in Europe, America and Asia in collaboration with conductors such as Pierre Boulez , Václav Neumann , Mstislav Rostropowitsch , Karl Münchinger , George Malcolm , Sakari Oramo and Dmitri Kitajenko and with renowned orchestras such as the Czech Philharmonic , the Moscow Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra Washington , the Hungarian Philharmonic, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Orchester National de France .

As a chamber musician , he founded the Trio de Barcelona in 1981 . He also performed regularly with the pianists Josep Colom and Benedicte Palko .

Claret had lectureships a. a. in Barcelona and at the Conservatory of Toulouse . Today he teaches at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu and at the New England Conservatory of Music as well as master classes in Europe, the USA, Japan and Korea. He is also a member of the jury for international competitions. a. at the International Rostropovich Competition in Paris.

In addition to the classical repertoire, Claret also plays works by contemporary composers such as Henri Dutilleux , Witold Lutosławski , Krzysztof Penderecki , Joan Guinjoan and Iannis Xenakis . Numerous albums have been released, including a. Recordings with suites for solo cello by JS Bach , the concerto for cello and orchestra by Schumann , the arpeggione sonata by Schubert , cello concertos by Haydn and Boccherini and cello sonatas by Zoltán Kodály .
