Josep Colom i Rincón (born January 11, 1947 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan classical pianist. Colom is assigned to the environment of the Catalan Pianist School.

life and work

Colom studied at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona . He completed in-depth studies with his aunt Rosa Colom and Joan Guinjoan . He later studied in Paris with Ch. Causeret, Monique Deschaussées and Marian Rybicki , where he graduated from the École Normale de Musique de Paris in 1973 .

Colom won important prizes in competitions in Jaén (1973), Épinal (1977) and Santander (1979). In 1998 he received the Premi Nacional de Música in Spain .

Colom played chamber music with Gonçal Comellas , Rafael Ramos and Arto Noras as well as with the Gabrielli Quartet in London. He has built a great career as a soloist in symphonic works. He specialized in Brahms . Colom recorded his complete works for solo piano from 1992 to 1994 on recordings. He has also recorded major works by Frederic Mompou (1989), the sonatas by Manuel Blasco de Nebra (1995) and some works by Manuel de Falla .
