Enriqueta Garreta i Toldrà (born October 26, 1907 in Barcelona ; † October 23, 1971 ibid) was a Catalan classical pianist and music teacher. She was the niece of the composer Eduard Toldrà . Enriqueta Garreta is assigned to the Catalan School of Pianists .

Enriqueta Garreta was born in October 1907 in Barcelona as the daughter of Emili Garreta and Enriqueta Toldrà i Soler, the sister of the composer Eduard Toldrà. She studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona, ​​the Escola Municipal de Música de Barcelona , with Santiñà, Lluís Millet i Pagès and with Joan Baptista Pellicer . In 1926 she completed her piano studies with distinction. In 1927 she won the Maria Barrientos Prize . A scholarship for in-depth studies in piano abroad was associated with this award. In the same year she went to Paris to complete such postgraduate studies with Ricardo Viñes . During her time in Paris from 1927 to 1929 she gave numerous concerts. The concert given with Ricardo Viñes on April 21, 1928 in the legendary Sala Érard became particularly well known . Here they premiered the Berceuse Herbst by Joaquín Rodrigo .

After returning to Barcelona, ​​she began a life as a concert pianist and music teacher. She has appeared as a soloist with well-known ensembles such as the Banda Municipal de Barcelona , the Orquestra Pau Casals or the Orquestra Municipal de Barcelona . On such occasions she worked with orchestral conductors such as Joan Lamote de Grignon , Pau Casals , Eduard Toldrà and Joaquim Serra . She often worked with song singers such as Concepció Badia , Emili Vendrell , Concepció Callao , Ricard Fuster or Mercè Plantada . She often gave concerts for two pianos with Margarida Chala . On February 17, 1935, she premiered the Variations for Orchestra and Piano op. 38 by Joaquim Serra together with the Pau Casals Orchestra . She shared a lifelong friendship and admiration with this composer. Joaquim Serra dedicated three short pieces for piano to her under the title '' Paisatge '' (Landscape). In return, Garreta became "ambassador" of the "Variations for Orchestra and Piano" op. 28. She performed this piece several times with the "Orquestra Municipal de Barcelona" and also with the "Orquestra Simfònica de Madrid" in 1933 . In 1937 Garreta took part as a piano soloist in symphony concerts given by the Direcció General de Radiodifusió de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Directorate of the Generalitat de Catalunya for Broadcasting) with the Orquestra Simfònica Catalana under the direction of Josep Fontbernat .

After the civil war Garreta gave numerous concerts and took part in many song evenings in various locations in Barcelona. In the last years of her life she performed several times in concerts of the Orquestra Municipal de Barcelona under the direction of Eduard Toldrà.

Enriqueta Garreta died in Barcelona on October 23, 1971. There are historical recordings with Enriqueta Garreta on piano and her uncle Eduard Toldrà on violin, in which they performed the six sonnets of the latter composer. There are also recordings of Garreta with Francesca Callao , in which both performed works by Francesc Pujol and Apel·les Mestres . Enriqueta Garreta was considered one of the most active pianists from Barcelona in the first half of the 20th century.
